In Japan, the infrastructures for investigator-initiated clinical studies not financially supported by pharmaceutical companies or large-scale epidemiological studies are yet to be developed. To collect evidence for healthcare interventions in Japanese people in investigator-initiated clinical studies and epidemiological studies, quality statistical analysis, data management and consultation services need to be provided while keeping down the cost. Involvement of nonprofit organizations (NPOs) that focus on enhancing public interest will be crucial for achieving the goal.
Developing the information services of clinical studies and the research findings and promoting communication with the public and the research subjects are also NPO's important task.
